Dear Carlo & Edith, Namasté!

We would like to give you some school information about your sponsor child’s new school year. As you know, the school system here in Nepal is different than in Europe. The Nepali New Year was on the 14th of April. All schools had their holidays at that time.

Most schools started on the week of the 19th April. We went to visit the different schools where our sponsor children are attending, to see how they started their new year at school.

Salina goes to our Day Care Centre in class Lower KG. This is the second class of Kindergarten. According to the teacher Salina is not so interested in reading and writing yet. Of course she is still very young. But in Nepali system the parents expect their children to read and write at age 4!

But in our Day Care Centre, we motivate the children by playing and teach them to coordinate with the other toddlers.
Salina likes more to sleep than to participate in the activities. So the teachers give her time to rest.
She is soft and respectful among her friends. She looks clean and tidy.

We are happy to know all this information about Salina and encourage her to be active and playful and enjoy.
